Problem Solved

My neighbor was lamenting to me that her daughter always looses her cute hair accessories at school. The problem, the clips never stay in her hair. My sisters have mentioned the same thing to me in the past. Their solution was to put a clear rubber band at the end of the clip to keep it closed. So, my neighbor said she no longer put them in her hair. She always tells me how cute my little woman's hair is with the cute flowers or bows. So, I got to thinking about a way to solve that problem. EASY!

So I made some flowers, BUT instead of putting them on a clip, I sewed a piece of ribbon onto the back.

Next I got a rubber band and tied the flower onto the rubber band. Make sure to use a bowline knot so the ribbon will not come undone. You can watch a tutorial HERE. Knot it really tight. Then trim off the ends and fray check the end of the ribbon.

Here is my daughter's usual attire. There is always play jewelry, wands, and tutus involved. I think she might be a "fancy Nancy". I have officially stopped trying to get her to wear something else to the store because it just isn't worth it. ANNNNNNDDDDD I think she looks really cute:)

Hair Today....

gone tomorrow!?! Okay, enough with the lame play on clichés. 

So, here is the low down in mow town. I have been thinking about this long and hard and I decided I am only going to be posting once or twice a week from now on. My sis will still be doing her posts twice a week so you will get a total of 3-4 posts. I decided most people probably don't notice whether I post every day because they are following several blogs. I just am feeling like right now I need to focus on myself and my family. This blog and you as followers have really helped me through some very difficult times in my life and I just wanted to give you a HUGE hug and thank you! This is not a good bye! Just a change in the time I feel I can devote to this blog has changed as well as my priorities. This decision just feels right for me. Especially considering, I will be taking nutrition courses AGAIN!!! I dropped out when I was struggling with post partum depression (3 yrs ago), but I have been craving learning lately and this is one thing I am ferociously interested in:) Probably because I am working towards my bachelors in Dietetics, but you know, what ever;)

With that said, I have been browsing great hair and this is what I found. Click on the picture to be taken to the cite.

I love the easiness of this tutorial. I actually just started my braid higher and didn't use a curling iron the next day. I used some moose and my fingers to shape the waves a little better. Super easy!

Quick little update, Kristen Duke's "Say No to Auto" e-book has been updated. I purchased this handy little book after I made the jump to an SLR. I was struggling with learning to use my camera, but this little book straightened it all out for me. The size is perfect is to keep in a camera bag.

Getting My Craft On

Now, I got my craft on today because I have a double baby shower to attend. One is having a boy and the other a girl.

I made a bib and put an airplane applique on it. I drew the pattern. I also made a tie onesie and pacifier clip.


I made a bib with a strawberry applique. I drew the pattern.


I also made her 2 flower clips and a hair bow. I made a matching pacifier clip.


Then I made this SaWeet onesie. I just cut this flower from some fabric I had.


Then I added 3 ruffles on the bum. Sooooooo, cute!


I folded these boxes using 12x12 paper. I didn't have any gift bags and I didn't feel like spending money on them. I already had the scrapbook paper, so I put it to use. I stuffed the presents inside.


Then I tide a ribbon around it... well the hair band went around one. It wouldn't fit inside, but it worked out just fine.
